Welcome to my blog!

Hi Guys 🙂

Thanks for swinging by my blog. I have to say I am pretty nervous about writing for a ton of people I have never met and my English is actually quite poor despite the fact I am a native! However, I decided that in 2019 I would create a blog to share my bargain charity shop, vintage and Ebay finds.

It was actually my husband who encouraged me to create a blog. That made this all a little more daunting for me as he is an English lecturer and writes himself but he gave me the encouragement that blogs are so informal that anything goes….so here it goes 🙂

So why am I writing this blog? Well I have been getting more and more compliments on the clothes I have been wearing and buying from second hand sources and a lot of people can never believe that sometimes my whole trendy outfit has cost less than a tenner! My husband is often within ear shot of these compliments and said “You should start a blog or a youtube channel” and so that is exactly what I am going to do.

I started charity shop hunting around 5 years ago when I had my son and no maternity pay as I had been a student teacher and students are not entitled to maternity benefit….so very skint but in need of clothing I started to go on ebay and for a mooch around local charity shops. I quickly found I could get beautiful clothing at a fraction of the prices in a shop. Over the last few years I have pretty much ditched the high street. I now find myself even finding Primark expensive and I have become a lot more conscious of my wardrobe and what I put into it.

Fashion now is so disposable with many sites like Asos, Boohoo and Pretty Little Thing charging small amounts and changing their clothes almost weekly it has been so easy to buy clothes and bin them and give them away. This is handy for many on a budget but it also means that a lot of the time we spend a lot of money on clothes that are not necessarily the greatest quality and only God knows what sweatshops they have been produced in.

I get a sense of happiness when I pick up my bargains in a charity shop because at least the money is helping a charity even if the clothes were not made so ethically originally.

Ebay and Vinted bargains are another way that I shop second hand. Whilst Ebay and Vinted do not offer the giving of something back it does help me to make huge savings and to help someone else who is selling their old clobber.

I hope you will enjoy reading and looking at my fashionable thrifty finds and I hope it helps to inspire others to do the same.

My mission for 2019 is to only buy second hand clothes…apart from undies of course and some shoes maybe but I am adamant to never shop in store again.

I shall be updating my blog weekly on my recent purchases and updating photos of my looks.

I shall also be creating a brand new Twitter page for everyone to follow.

Watch this space and thanks for reading 🙂
